Trying to Keep It Clean

After a 12-hour long countdown event, this morning at the always magical time of 7:07 AM PDT Bungie released a CG-teaser featuring our favorite little green plunger toting character. I am sure there are plethora of clues contained within the Superintendent-themed video so fill me in! What’s going on?!

64 Responses to Trying to Keep It Clean

  1. I have no idea to be honest.

Many are speculating that its ODST themed but when was the last time you saw so many Helljumpers deployed at once? To me I believe these are flood dispersal pods. This would also tie in with the “Keep it Clean” slogan, referring to UNSC having to keep New Mombasa clear of the flood ((The ark and halo were destroyed but earth was still left in tact and could have some outbreak)))

  2. Atomic says:

From what I’ve been looking into it looks like it has something to do with an extended campaign video. If you read the information on XBL as a download, it says “campaign experience.”

The video takes place in New Mombasa with a large amount of ODST drop pods landing in the city recently attacked by the Covenant. It is either multiple ODST drop pods or one drop pod in particular.

The video at one point reads something like ” Where is Maria” or something like that. There is also a date that pops up a few times in the static “1/8/09” or something of that nature. I know its like 1/#/09.

Speculation is that it is a new campaign add on that either takes the place of a marine, or some sort of Spartan. The new skulls achievements take place on levels of this expansion. The expansion is called “Mythic”

  3. Ive been hearing all of this speculation but Im iffy to believe anything.

I know its not too far fetched but I dont know. Im guessing the Mythic maps will be straight out of the campaign extension then

  4. Das Kalk says:

the ODST thing would make sense “prepare to drop) would fit nicely….But i’m not sure. I shit a brick when i saw it, I waited ill 10:07 this morning (i’m EST)

  5. Doc says:

But the new achievements also state that you need to do certain multiplayer things on those maps (the same ones where you also need to find the skulls). I’m not saying that there won’t be a new campaign, but I really believe that the Mythic will just be the new map pack.

  6. BBJynne says:

    THIS… IS…. AWESOME!

  7. Laird says:

Ii also have to go with the ODST expansion pack, I mean Half life did it with HL2 Ep 1/2, why can’t bungie do it with Halo 3 Episode 0? Providing this falls in the theorized time period of Halo 2/3 based on the fact that it looks like New Mombassa.

  8. e house says:

this teaser makes my codpiece tight.

  9. Naepa34 says:

It is New Mombassa, as you can see it in some of the evacuation signs. I’m also pretty sure that you can see the metal X parachute thing on the pods, leading to them being ODST pods. (remember the drop onto delta halo)

  10. Mopy09 says:

There is some very interesting stuff in the trailer. I’ll point out the stuff that people may have missed the first time through.

From 0:05 to 0:08, a Covenant ship, presumably Truth’s, can be seen in the background behind the space elevator at the right of the screen.

    At 0:10, the display reads,

    “>POST SCAN CAMERA ACTIVE

    >SCAN>>POP:0

    >[EVAC.COMPLETE]”

From 0:10 to 0:12, the ship is visible above the building with “AMG” on the roof.

A little before 0:13, a sign in the top left corner of the screen shows that the city is New Mombassa

Shortly before 0:18, a message appears in the bottom left corner. It says,

    “ACTIVATING SUBROUTINE “VERGIL”
WARNING! DATA LEAK ON LEVEL 9″

Most of the drop pods are heading in the same direction, but about 15-20 pods are traveling away from the group. I thought I heard human voices at around this part. It sounds like “We’re under attack”, but it’s not clear enough to be certain.

The blast at 0:20 is most likely Truth’s ship entering slipspace.

From 0:22 to 0:23, the display at the bottom reads,

    EMP TRIP DETECT

At exactly 0:35:23, the red banner in the middle of the screen shows,

    “>>MADDIE, WHERE ARE YOU?<<“

Then, at 0:36:03, the red banner displays as,

    “>>DANGER:FLOOD ZONE<<“

From 0:36 to 0:37 there’s just a bunch of gibberish. I couldn’t find anything in it that seemed like a clue to anything.

From 0:46 to 0:48, the last pod can be seen falling from the sky in the background.

    Movie ends at 1:02

    “WTF?” at 1:03

  11. Das Kalk says:

I just watched something on G4 and they spelled Brian’s name wrong…They DID show assembly though

  12. well it has to relate to halo 3 somehow, they showed it at the end…..

  13. ReverendTiki says:

Just to let everyone know the “last” droop pod is actually the first (as shown in the time stamp). I dont know if this is true b/c it cracks the camera and then shows another picture form that view and theres no crack.

  14. Apotheosis93 says:

I want to clear a few misconceptions:
Mythic is a multiplayer map pack. This is something different. It isn’t a new game, either. It says Halo 3 at the end of the trailer. This could be a trailer for a campaign expansion (which Bungie has always denied as a possibility) or the Mythic map pack, which, considering the release date (1/6/09 or 6/1/09), may make sense.

Remember, New Mombasa was completely destroyed by the slipspace rupture. I won’t speculate, but it is a fact that the orbital elevator was destroyed. It makes no sense that the buildings were still standing. That really rules out an add on happening in the late Halo 2- Halo 3 timeline, and an early Halo 2 timeline seems unlikely because the swarm of drop pods would have been noted.

In summation, I think it’s Marathon Forever. FINALLY!!! lol

  15. Mopy09 says:

Just to let everyone know the “last” droop pod is actually the first (as shown in the time stamp). I dont know if this is true b/c it cracks the camera and then shows another picture form that view and theres no crack.

That can’t be true. The time stamp is just screwed up. If you watch the timer, you’ll see that it’s running way too fast. Also, the windows on the buildings are broken, but earlier in the video, it shows them intact.

  16. It is true that the explosion did damage in the teaser, but the slipspace jump would have completely destroyer the city, wouldn’t it have?

  17. Mopy09 says:

I guess not? I thought I heard one of the marines in Halo 3 mention that the elevator collapsed when the ship jumped, so it should have been destroyed in the video. I’m sure Bungie will explain everything tomorrow in their weekly update.

  18. XerxdeeJ says:

    Random Unsubstantiated Theory:

This offering will fill in the gaps for the Battle of Earth. It seems that there is a Covenant cruiser patrolling the skyline, followed by a large explosion. Given the fact that the location is New Mombasa, I am assuming that this teaser illustrates the perspective of an artificial intelligence that was monitoring the city when the Prophet of Regret jumped from Earth to Delta Halo.

Bungie loves to give us “a record of all our lost time”. Each installment of the Halo story builds out another strand in the timeline, be it a book or a game or a piece of multimedia. Fans have always clammored for more information on how the humans fought off the Covenant invasion. This might be just the scenario we have been waiting for…

  19. Crazyeye0 says:

The words “Maddie, Where are you” seem to be lingering eerily in my mind…this whole trailer feels…eery, I’m so excited about this though! maybe the last drop pod travelling on (possibly) the wrong trajectory contained a spartan, ODST, or maybe even an Onyx Spartan named Maddie, which could be the main character? it would be interesting.

P.S-Sorry I havn’t posted for ages, school, working and studying have kept me rather busy and i’ve had less free time than usual. You had a Recon contest without me? sadface =(

Keep it clean is also my XBL Motto now.

  20. I’m unsure on all the speculation so far. What I do have to say is:

    ZOMG! More Halo!!1!!! OMGWTF117BBQ!

  21. angelofbacon says:

Anyone else notice the French on the “keep it clean” portion of bungie.net? “Restez calmes s’l vous plait” – please stay calm. New Mombasa is in Africa so this would make sense.

  22. Javinova says:

I really like Mopy09’s analysis of what the video included and what some of it may have meant. I tried pausing every quarter second to try and notice any small details and I did, but not as many as Mopy found. I do know though that as some others have stated, Mythic refers to the Mythic Map pack. Most likely it will include all the maps mentioned in the new achievements.

The video however I am not sure what it represents. I know its New Mombassa. The speculation that a covenant ship is slipspace jumping in the town also seems very plausible. According to my knowledge of all the stories (books/games) the only jump I know of is Regrets ship in Halo 2 (within Earth’s atmosphere.) So if it is Regrets ship then maybe yes, it could be about ODST’s. If it is not Regrets ship however, there is a (far off and unlikely but plausible) possibility that a bunch of those ODST drop pods actually contain many of the missing SPARTANS from the books. That probably isn’t the case, just a thought though.

  23. WaywardFerret says:

Looks cool. but then again its a CG, and a teaser at that. Call me jaded, but I’m remembering the “Believe” campaign for halo 3- we believed. until we realized it wasn’t in the game. I’ll get excited when Bungie actually releases something.

  24. Havoc 101 says:

I think some of those shots were from in-game (new-mombasa street.) This looks awesome.

  25. Nismis says:

When I saw it, the first thing I thought was ODSTs, but as I kept watching, I realized that…that’s a LOT of ODSTs if that’s what they are. The only drop troops that I could think of that came in that number were Spartan III’s. (Read Ghosts of Onyx and be instantly jealous of them) If you have read it, you’ll recall the open scene where Spartan III’s are dropped by the hundreds onto a Covenant fueling planet. That’s all I came up with. :P

  26. SP4NKthRu says:

I don’t believe those were drop pods but actually peices of a “broken ship” Remember at the very end scene of Halo 3 where mastercheif climbs into the sleep-chamber and tells cortana to wake him if she needs him… the next scene is the ship masterchief was in coming upon a planet!! this could be the planet and that could be his ship breaching the atmosphere and falling apart and crashing into a metropolitan area “metropolitan emergency”!!!

  27. SP4NKthRu says:

Correction, I did see the pods with the X parachute… maybe they could be falling out of MC’s ship just to throw us off or something.

  28. kenraves says:

I have hopes this is halo 3 related…but I doubt it. I think this is something else…something…MUCH ELSE.

  29. Well it’s definitely halo related, they showed the logo at the end.

It’s hard to say exactly what it’s about though…….

  30. Sarge Tomzilla says:

    My two cents:

We see Regret’s ship before he jumps to Installation 05
    We see massive ODST landing
Date is 2552, and location New Mombasa
    Halo 3 at end

So, in my honest opinion, I’m thinking its squad-based(maybe) ODST, with the events of Halo’s 2 and 3 from their point-of-view. Would be interesting.

  31. resix the one says:

hey if you listen closely during the crashing scene you can faintly hear cortana saying chief. that may be a clue and also on one part the time says 2552 maening the year 2552 and im pretty sure this might be in new mombasa because it could just be showing what happened during the slipspace jump i mean it had the same blue glow when truths ship jumped in halo2 but it never showed anything of the town after that.

Oh and also you can faintly hear what johnson was saying right before the jump when the blue flash is going on.

  32. scooter1988 says:

i can see escape pods. Thats whats falling from the sky if you pause it at the right time you can see shoots slowing them down there like the hell jumper pods from halo2 wow this has me realy thinking!

  33. I find it weird that there were so many drop pods all at once. Didn’t seem right…….

  34. SonofMacPhisto says:

Regarding the ship we see in the trailer:

I don’t think it’s jumping out of the city, because most of the building are intact and the space elevator is still standing. In Halo 3, we saw what jumping in-city did – it’s completely devestated.

What is more likely in my mind, is that the initial explosion we see is some sort of bomb, or EMP device. It would make a lot of sense to me for the Covenant to have developed something like that, seeing how much humanity relies on electronic equipment. Basically, bring Assault Carrier over city, blast it with some sort of bomb/EMP, and make your job that much easier.

Also, it makes perfect sense to me that there would be a TON of ODST drop pods in the sky. In Halo 2, we only saw the operation from one ship. During the Battles of Earth, there are undoubtedly countless ships in orbit – and it would make sense that many had ODST and Marine attachments. In fact, take this one step further: I would be surprised if that many Marine attachments were actually deployed planet side. Typically, the Covenant would just glass the planet. With about every planet, the battle was won or lost in space – not on the ground.

  35. Mopy09 says:

I don’t think it’s jumping out of the city, because most of the building are intact and the space elevator is still standing. In Halo 3, we saw what jumping in-city did – it’s completely devestated.

I’m not too sure about that. When Regret’s ship jumped, we saw a white-ish explosion, and some cars being thrown around, but it didn’t show any buildings collapsing. However, the city of New Mombasa was destroyed and the space elevator collapsed sometime between Halo 2 and 3. I don’t know. Your theory is plausible however. I wish we knew for certain what happened. Guess we’ll have to wait until Bungie fills us in.

  36. SonofMacPhisto says:

Good point Mopy09, the thought had crossed my mind as well.

Wait… during ‘Tsavo Highway,’ right after you leave Crow’s Nest, you can run up to a cliff and look out over the Savannah at the collapsed elevator. A marine says ‘It collapsed when the city got glassed.’

I think you are RIGHT. I assumed that slipspace jumping inside the city would result in massive destruction, but maybe not. It could have just been a massive EMP plus more localized damage… the total destruction came later, especially considering how after the Covies found out what was under New Mombasa.

    Good stuff man, good stuff.

  37. Tom says:

guys, think about it, it could be covenant drop pods, they do seem to be a BIT coffin shaped like they were in halo 2 maybe it could be telling it from the covenant side, or the ODST side, or BOTH! it also said another interesting thing within ‘where are yo maddie?’ and ‘Danger: Flood Zone’ it said ‘Yellow means yield!’ but it says it soooo quickly. I believe that looking back at fall of reacha dn ghosts of onyx that maddie is probably a spartan-1 or a spartan-3. It seems a lot darker than halo 3.1 and a lot better at story telling, quite frankly i’m sick of this silly cartoony master chief, i want to be able to dismember alien ligaments and duck behing cover, roll and jump onto aliens and slam their faces in with my fist. I want this one to be strategic and dark rather than comical and simple!! So heck yeh to my pants being wet from this trailer!!!

  38. RIFT says:

This is a Campaign Expansion to Halo 3. You play as a loan ODST soldier who has to find his way back to his unit, then fight out of the city of New Mombasa. This takes place during Halo 2, between 2 and 3, and during Halo 3. The flash of light and explosion that sends you off course is the slip space rupture from Halo 2, when Regret was retreating from the city. The unit you will be meeting up with is shown very briefly in the video; when all the drop pods are dropping to the left, a small group are dropping to the right, and even focused upon.

The Campaing expansion will play from moments after the slip space event up untill the Master Chief is re-entering atmo in the beginning of Halo 3. The combat in this will be focused on a more tightly-laced group, rather than the “loan ranger” style of the Chief; you can die very quickly if you get shot, so stay close to friends. As well, the gameplay will focus more heavily on large groups of soldiers, rather than the small skirmishes that take place throughout the Halo 3 Campaign. Think big numbers, not a 5-man team and the Chief VS 5 Brutes and 4 Grunts. More like your squad of 7, the other 130+ ODSTs, and your fighting groups of up to 20 or so Covenant at a time.

Release date was estimated to be in November, but it’s most likely not going to be released by then. The 6 new maps, to inclue 2 new maps, 2 Halo CE maps, and 2 Halo 2 maps, will most likely be released in November instead. The next 250 Achievements will be activated either next month or even early November, while all 750 of the new points will be available when the Mythic Map Pack is released. The only remake that’s know is a remake of Headlong from Halo 2, which will include more floors to all the buildings within the map, more space overall, and a higher height-barrier, making the Banshee more effective. Of the 2 new maps, one is Assembly, and the other is a completely customizable map that you can build from the ground up in a VR-like space; name unknown.

Moonbase Alpha, as it was previously dubbed, was a map said to include a new vehicle, be it a Spectre, a Transport Warthog, or some other incarnation unknown, is now titled “Orbital.”

Yep, that’s about all that I’ve dug up… or spoken to important people about…

  39. Well, it sounds professional, but you have no links or real proof. Plus why would they make new maps for halo CE and halo 2? Halo 2 is finished, and hardly anyone plays it anymore. People do play it, but why would they make maps for halo 2 when they can focus on halo 3 and future projects.

So while it does sound like a good summary, it sounds a bit farfetched without any supporting facts.

  40. RIFT says:

Nonono, they are remakes, not old Halo CE and 2 maps… as in a remake of Headlong for Halo 3… called Longshore… and I know it sounds farfetched.

  41. Oh, sorry i didn’t quite understand the way you worded it, but I get it now.

It still sounds a bit iffy. An awesome concept none the less.

  42. benjamin says:

everyone it has something to do with the flood. want proof ? look on second 37 and in a message it says danger flood zone this means those drop pods ARE the flood coming to earth i have it as a picture print screened

  43. well the drop pods are human, that much is obvious. And the flood didn’t first get to earth till halo 3 on the cruiser.

  44. Crazyeye0 says:

Just because it says flood zone dosn’t mean it’s THE Flood, it could just be a flood, and the drop pods crash in them and drown or something.

    P.S-Maddie, where are you?
Subliminal messages from Bungie to make up search for Maddelaine Macanne?
doubt it, but in todays world you never know.

  45. Naepa34 says:

What if the “Flood zone” thing is just another warning, like “please remain calm”? I mean, the SI is damaged, so he might be just spurting out random warnings. I really dont think it has anything to do with the flood.

  46. Silver Nax says:

The 1 thing that confused me was that the drop pods are landing into an explosion?

Remember in the 2nd game when the Covenant ships jumped in the city it destroyed the city much like we are seeing here, but yet if they are ODST pods or the similar then they are dropping into a certain death surely?

  47. Dagulators says:

Starting from 00:22 to 00:26 you can hear four faint voices shouting Chief , first one is Jonson the second is Cortana the third is Cortana (again) and the last one sounds like a little girl (but its proplably just cortana with the static and the backgrownd noise , MAYBE) Thats what i think i heard. And THE HALO SERIES ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you :D

(sorry if i had any spelling mistakes i dont speak english)

  48. resix the one says:

dagulators you heard it too. im one of my earlier post i said that too.

  49. FireMaker1991 says:

I belive that they might bring in the spartan 2 program if they are to complete the halo series, because the S.P.I. armor would be a nice addition to the game and could add some new levels of gameplay, including more assassination based missions, missions that have hundreds of spartans fighting to destroy another big base, ect….but this i mind you is just speculation coming from a good fan of the Halo series….but it would still be cool

  50. AquaFoe says:

hey guys ever thought that this is what happened before the “Pardon Our Dust” update on bungie? i cant explain it but i have a feeling that the “Dust” message is wats going on during/after the pods were landing. I dunno it could just be me but uh think about it

  51. daninja says:

its about flood if you look at where all the words flash across the screen it says danger flood zone

  52. Mopy09 says:

I belive that they might bring in the spartan 2 program if they are to complete the halo series, because the S.P.I. armor would be a nice addition to the game…

I think you’re thinking of Spartan IIIs. Master Chief was a Spartan II. I think that would be awesome. If you remember from the beginning of Ghosts of Onyx, it says that Spartan IIIs were deployed in huge numbers on suicide missions. Maybe that explains why there were so many drop pods. I wish Bungie would do some explaining.

  53. Jimmy_B says:

i agree with Mopy09 on his posts, also with his being the most accurate recap of the video so i won’t repost info thats already been stated, and to catch all this I have watched the video frame by frame to see everything in every frame, i did notice however that any phrase that “||||||” (aka. SuperIntendent) has posted in the bungie forums was in this video,

    also at 00:00:13
it shows “your tax dollars at work” on the left side of the screen

    at 00:00:15
the bottom says “THRESHOLD TRIGGER” and while this displays the “SuperIntedent” figure changes from normal eyes to angry looking ones

at 00:00:17 it changes to “AUTH. INQ.”

at 00:00:20 it changes again to “AUTH. NEGATIVE”, AUTH most likely referring to authorization, also at this time the normal instruction code located just above the
    “ACTION //
    AAR CONTROL”
    changes to
    “WRITEOUT
    SPOOLOUT -H
CORE STORE” possibly trying to preserve the system?

    at 00:00:21
    the coding of
    “INITIATE RESET
RESET ALL -R -F” is posted below the last change

    at 00:00:22
the “DIRECT LINK” changes to “SPOOL OUT”
and the location (which could be a camera number) of “MBARAKI.2552” is changed to “ERR”,

    at 00:00:23
the location flashes between “ERR” and “SIDIRIYAI.0042”

    at 00:00:24
the bottom now reads “SAVE SYS STATE” and the very top left corner no longer has dialog but replaced with “ERROR”
    the location shows “MAKADARA.0039”

    at 00:00:25
several drop pods are seen falling into the city before the slipjump begins

on the green screen with messages in the red banner the bottom left corner has the “City of New Mombasa” symbol and icon, the “SuperIntendent”s face changes multiple times here, and finializes on a sad looking set of eyes

    at 00:00:38
under the face on the right it cycles through many letters, which look like its trying to spell VIRGIL as its second word, possibly “MY VIRGIL”

    at 00:00:39
the bottom right corner says “LINK FAIL”

    at 00:00:40
under the face on the top right it now also displays “LINK FAIL________”

    at 00:00:44
the top left corner says “AKE___________BREAK”

    at 00:00:45
the bottom right corner says “ATTEMPT RELINK____”

    at 00:00:47
the screen is overlayed with an upside down layout of the screen

    at 00:00:49
the screen displays “ERRROR” on the far left, “HALO 3” in the center, and “TARGET LOSS FAILURE” in the bottom right

    at 00:00:53
the bottom right corner now displays “ACTION CAPTURE>>>ON” with “PREPARE TO DROP” in the center of the screen

so thats everything i myself caught, if anyone else caught anything in the video i didnt, please feel free to update the list, theres alot of info to decipher, im sure if we all work together we can piece some info together :)

  54. TM Overload says:

it reminds me of the part in halo 2 when the prophet goes to slipspace and destroys new mombasa where the video takes places maybe its a prequel type thing

  55. Jimmy_B says:

i was actually thinking the same thing TM Overload, like the time that MC was off at the second ring, because theres no definitive answer to whether or not the entire city of New Mombasa was leveled by the slipjump, granted it does show alot of damage, but nothing that shows the city was crushed, the space elevator may have been destroyed though as it may not have been as structurally rigid enough to withstand the slipjump, but a pre-halo 3 would be a sick game, though the idea of the suicide spartans wouldn’t make for a great game, nor a hero rising from it, so it would probably have quite the depressing ending

  56. Andrew_S says:

Spartan 3’s were used for missions within enemy space. To disrupt, destroy or otherwise slow down the Covenant. I don’t think they would be used to defend earth. Considering there are already three other spartan 2’s on earth(cant remember there names). Plus not to mention the first attack on earth was dated as fall of 2552(source: http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Halo_2#Storyline) and the spartan 3 program was started in 2531 at best, although there first recorded mission was in 2536(Alpha Company)(source:http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/SPARTAN-III_Program#2536_-_2537). Also Spartans don’t typically use drop pods. H E V’s are used mostly by Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODST). Every time they jump they jump into certain death so this situation would not really be any different. They were also most likely launched before the ship slip space jumped. Once the pods are let go there’s no getting them back.

Just my thoughts on some of your theories if i got anything wrong just point it out :P

  57. FireMaker1991 says:

ok me again, yea i forgot it was spartan 3’s i just rememberd their armor name, but as a few have pointed out, there is a face in the top right, which i believe are either diognostics on squad members or beter yet your AI….so any thoghts?

  58. luke hendo says:

if u read the flashing words u see the flood mentioned

  59. chris says:

Ok, My first thought. the timeline stated by a previous post was 2552, which could be true, however, my thought on that if you look at a early picture of the street it says in the right lower corner lumumba.0624. I am thinking that this is just a camera name ie. ( location.number) I also believe that these could be ODST cameras looking for the location of master chief. If you will pause the video at 00:13 and look in the lower right corner right below the camera name, it says ” SIERRA 117 LOC UNK” also, doesn’t this city street look like the one from Halo2 where you link up with the soldiers that are battling some covenant on the street corner right before you down the long hall that is dark. just an observation, and I said looks like not it is.

  60. Sam says:

Some of the words say: “Danger Flood Zone,” could this be another outbreak of flood, it could well be as bungie have told us that it is to be a ‘new campaign experience’

  61. Steve says:

When you look at some of the new achievements, you see them mention something about “Mythic” Maps, which include an achievement for Assembly. Bungie (contrary to them saying they aren’t going to) is going to release a new map pack or another update (like TU2) with these new maps and campaign levels.

  62. Preacher1311 says:

I’ll try to keep this short and sweet, my theory has two possibilities.
the first one involvolves this post at bungie:

in that transmission, the admiral is talking to someone that he refers to as both an S1 (spartan 1) and captain. if you’ve read “ghosts of onyx” you know at the end that Kurt (the spartan 1 of the story) was promoted to captain. So, kurt is possibly the one the Admiral is talking to, and is headed to earth. He could be making the drop with a new platoon of spartan 2s or even 3s.

Second, the events of halo 2 take place over the course of a few days, maybe a week. When chief boarded the pillar of autumn and they followed truth’s ship, only the space elevator was destroyed. With halo2 being on xbox, and this video with 360 CGI i don’t believe that’s the space elevator in the teaser, there are too many differences, and not a clear enough shot. Again, this theory comes from book references, if you read one of the books it shows a lot of different things that happened between halo 1 & 2. At the beginning of halo 3 sgt. johnson says “Why do you always have to jump? One day you’re gonna land on something more stubborn than you.” implying that chief has jumped from space before. The “believe” advertising campaign featured a massive battle in new mombossa that was never in the game… the battle however is in bungie’s “halo bible” which features every story that is canon.
At the end of halo 2 MC was on the covenant ship that brought the covenant to earth, the ship was filled with the drop pods that the covenant used to get to earth, why would chief jump without one?

i think this expansion will take place BETWEEN halo 2 & 3 and show how chief got off the covenant ship, the battle from the “believe” advertising memorial, and how he got back into space for his landing in halo 3

well if it is the spartan III’s and kurt this presents a problem from the end of the book ghost of onyx, they entered some sort of forrunner structure and used its teleport system to get inside some sealed part of it that sealed them and dr halsley inside what the book described as a planet type structure that was like a world built inside a sphere they refer to it as a sphere world. so how did they get out of that and back to earth unless that sphere world which in the end of the book explains they were just beggining to explore had some sort of safe transport back to earth and was sealed b/c it was the only safe place to be when the rings ignite destroying evrything but maybe this place is an interstellar bomb shelter from halo if u will. and was the fail safe to keep the forrunner and now our spartans safe and return them to earth? just speculation on how the books could be tied to this teaser, most likely its odst and maybe the MC jumping onto the planet that was seen in the legendary ending of halo3, maybe some how he was found and brought back or something idk lol. it would be really cool though if it did explain what happened after the books while simultaniously explaining the halo 3 ending could that be asking too much of bungie?

and further on that note about this spherical world, as i was getting my annual vidmaster achievement my eyes once again took to the amazing sky in the end of the level halo at the end of halo 3 and in the middle of all this destruction is an unknown to me cracked open sphere thats in the middle of whatever that thing is the covenant dug up. this could be that sphere world from the book? and could be how the spartan III’s kurt and the good dr. halsley escaped that place. possibly the odst drops could some how be tied to there possible return. wouldnt it be great to play as one of these spartans and even get to have there armor in MP? :)
