Altair’s Last Rite of Passage

Normally when I see a video that is ten minutes long, I curse the creator, wonder if there’s anybody alive that actually has an attention span that long, and then go take a nap. However when TheDuoGroup puts out a film of that length, I can’t wait to push play because I know I’m in for a treat. Their latest venture, an Assassin’s Creed fan film titled Initiation, tackles the time period before Altair has received the title of Hashshashin. You don’t have to be familiar with this particular video game’s storyline to appreciate the beauty of this piece so get comfortable and then watch it in its entirety. If nothing else, you’ll see what Halo Legends could have been. Yeah, I went there. What are you gonna do about it?

The animations looks like crap. Well, atleast those of the first minute and a half. ;)

This is fantastic. I love Assassins Creed so anything extra to add to the 2 games is great. The art style reminded me alot of the newest Prince of Persia, which is a good thing indeed.

The Duo Group does great work. I’d certainly like to see some more of this kind of thing from them.

That video was great. I didn’t like the animations where he was doing all the jumping and climbing and stuff. I also think it would have been better for his face to be partly obscured by the shadow more.

Since anyone who has played assassins creed has matched a face to Altair, any little change will have negative effects on a persons viewing experience. So no matter how well the face was drawn, if it wasn’t spot on to the Altair that we know, then it causes a negative effect on viewing pleasure.

good video and overall I loved it. 9.5/10

I thought it was awesome, I’m a huge fan of the Creed series. However, I do agree the parkour/climbing animations could have done with some work. Otherwise, it was great.

Why does he walk at the speed of a limping old man. Altair should be running everywhere.

Hashashin… Is it wrong that I pictured Splinter saying that?

I loved it. I liked the story (Though it was Assassins in that universe. The Hashashin or however it’s spelt were our equivalent-Nitpicker) And loved how it focused more on the fact that Altair was not the only assassin, and that he was part of something larger. He could’ve been running faster, the running could’ve been a bit better done than a blurred image of him. The parkour sections were similarily off, but oh well. It was Assassin’s Creed.
    Thus, it is instantly awesome.

I had a funny idea for that kind of thing.
Woman: You must give us your sacrifice to join our ranks.
Altair: Ah yeah sure, here you go. *cuts off finger*
Woman: *open mouthed, gaping* I didn’t mean to cut off your finger! WTF is wrong with you?!?
Altair: Oh, then what’d you want me to do?
Woman: Just cut your hand a bit and put your bloody handprint on the wall! Why would you think I would want you to cut off your finger.
Altair: I don’t know, I just thought it would be in the way of my wristblade when I flung it out.
Woman: You couldn’t just adjust your wrist to make way for the blade, or leverage the blade up a bit? Honestly what’s wrong with you!

I know it’s not that funny, but I thought that’d be funny to add to some kind of an Assassin’s Creed script.

Well, now that you mentioned it, I’m going to leave a somewhat disgruntled comment about how half of what was shown of Halo Legends was pretty damn good.

And while the animation was crap, the artwork was pretty good, although for some odd reason I thought the final “initiation” was to do that chick at the end. Huh.
