Haha, good sweet. What a moron.

      • xLAS3RP01NT3Rx says:

That multiplayer beta is gonna be AWESOME.

    • Glasses Guy says:

Well, at least the late release gives us time to play MW2, and to bitch about how good the beta will be. If it ever comes.

    • DethPwn says:

Helol sur. I am a busynes Nigerian man who has a good sweet offer for mr. or mrs. Please send $39,438,4933 in American doll hairs a sap.

      • DethPwn says:

        • Wortwortwort says:

That would be blarg chikka honk honk! (If you don’t get it watch Red vs. blue. If you don’t watch red vs blue, you suck.)

  4. Kensai111 says:

Already building Jorge-052 for the Reach premier. His armor is too cool for school.

    • voicedwalnut says:

kensai I agree that is shweet armor

anyway I’m dwnloading the trailer right now

    • DeepCee says:

      +100 to that !! :D

  5. HellCat says:

Awesome trailer. I saw a while ago. But this spits on fall of Reach and the canon

  6. ElusiveEagle says:

I sincerely dislike the amount of hate that this cinematic has created. Why does the revealed footage “inherently” invalidate The Fall of Reach novel and canon? The answer: It doesn’t have to!

Folks need to stop looking at the reveal from such a simple frame of reference. Why does the presence of a new cast mean that we will never see Blue team or Halsey or other characters we know of? It doesn’t mean that, so please stop thinking that. It is very possible to have new characters that interact with ones we already know of. In other words, it is very possible to fuse a new story with new characters to an existing story. Frankly, that’s probably the best way for franchises to story-tell in games these days anyway.

Why do people insist on playing as Blue team? Their stories and actions have already been dictated to us in The Fall of Reach. How fun is it to play as a character, knowing exactly what they’re going to do? It doesn’t make sense from a gameplay perspective, and it doesn’t make sense from a Bungie perspective.

Now, I’m going to stop here for several reasons. This means that I’ve left several things out of my argument, and that I haven’t covered it in its full scope (so it probably won’t make sense), but I’m tired.

Personally, I very much enjoyed the cinematic. It was ominous and foreboding. It got me intrigued and excited about what’s to come. It was also a nice contrast to those visually stunning (read: eye candy) but ultimately purposeless COD type trailers. In my eyes, it was a win.

    • You tell ’em eagle

      • ElusiveEagle says:

        Lol, thanks! :)

        • HellCat says:

Im not saying it invalidates it but it seems out of place. Their actions wouldve beemn recognised in the books

    • Absolute Edge says:

I agree with Eagle. It is simply an addition to the canon, broadening its scope, and allowing for a greater insight into the events during the Covenant’s assault on Reach.

The tone is first set quite nicely when he steps out of the warthog, and the music starts. It then reaches a climax when the Covenant ship is seen in the sky at the end, after the explosion, and followed by the chain lightning. The graphics look brilliant, and faces seem to be rendered quite well. A far more complete feeling than the teaser trailer at E3. It did nothing but raise my anticipation for the game.

    • ElusiveEagle says:

Why must people insist on seeing gameplay footage? We’re still months and months away from the release of this game. The gameplay is constantly being added to, removed, tweaked and adjusted up until mere weeks before the launch. Therefore, what you see now is NOT what you would see in 9 months. In addition, in the past when Bungie has shown gameplay footage (think Halo 2 at E3 2003) before a game launch, all people did was complain that feature X was removed in the final product or that feature Y changed so it’s not at all like it was a year in the past. Bungie learned its lesson, and because of jerks out there we will never see gameplay footage this far in advance of release anymore (I say “never” with sincerity, but realize that Bungie could change their policy in the future). If you are seriously bummed about not seeing gameplay footage, you have no one to blame but you and your fellow gamers. They’re the reason we can’t see how you’d actually play the game at this point in time. Personally, I would have loved to see how the gameplay changes through the development cycle up until release, but now we can’t.

However, with that said, I still LOVE <3<3<3 to see cinematics. Bungie has a great cinematics team, and I enjoy and respect their work. So, this reveal was just as exciting for me as gameplay footage would have been.

      • Wortwort says:

Eagle, I totally agree with you about the whole reach canon thing, but I just wanna say this. WILL WE EVER SEE A PLAYABLE CHARACTERS FACE!?!!??!?!?!? Come on bungie not another faceless super soldier!? Even a ODST, a regular joe, we don’t even get a name! COME ON!!!!!

      • Marksman says:

Hey, Feature X/Y you said, I noticed that in NFS Shift. At E3, they said you can customise the cockpit/interior of you car. Bought it, and nope. So Eagle, 100% agree, gameplay footage before the final product is fully complete = Bad move.

  8. I am liking this.

… Well, except for the blatantly obvious skull-face guy. Score points for originality, eh?

Graphics look more intense. I VISH TO SEE ZE BETA!

Oh yeah, we also finally found our answer to “How Elites Eat.” Look closely at the Elite’s mouth.

    • ElusiveEagle says:

“… Well, except for the blatantly obvious skull-face guy. Score points for originality, eh?”

This has been confirmed to be scratches in the reflective coating on his faceplate. Some people thought it was paint, but it is not.

“Oh yeah, we also finally found our answer to “How Elites Eat.” Look closely at the Elite’s mouth.”

      I hear they enjoy human… :P

      • DeepCee says:

Gotta ask SoMP about that :P

        • SonofMacPhisto says:

          Caviar and brandy, actually.

There’s an old Elite saying, ‘Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we smite our enemies with great vengence, and if blessed by the Forerunners, die gloriously in battle and tread the Path.’

        • SonofMacPhisto says:

Considering how many typos are in that previous post, I should lay off the brandy.

  9. illocon says:

I’m sorry, but this elicits no excitement from me at all. A cinematic. Is that it?

Also looks like someone from bungle has been taking notes from Army of Two and Ghost from MW2, with the adornment to a helmet.

Until I see playable content then I’ll hold judgement.

    • UnluckyIrish14 says:

      Bungle, huh?
Someone needs to go back to eighth grade English.

      • illocon says:

or someone needs to familiarise themselves with Caboose and the H3 reveal on coag!

        “that’s an ‘i’ you idiot”
        “oooooh, bingle!”

      • xLAS3RP01NT3Rx says:

        Actually, BUNGLE is the

    • Mizzy says:

And Army of Two stole it from fencing masks. 8/

  10. LOLERNATOR says:

FALLS 2010…you don’t say? HAR HAR HAR

    • Wortwort says:

      That wasn’t very puny.

  11. Visitor at home says:

I’m in love if they do Cinematics like this in game. If they don’t, it’ll still be awesome to have some new Spartans in the fold. the original 150 (-the number that died canonically due to their training/augmentation etc.) will always be cool, and great to play, but hearing these new ones will be interesting to say the least.

  12. augustelc says:

    want. naow

  13. drake_p says:

    I am so pumped. :D :D :D :D :D

  14. The Real Dr Nog says:

    dang, the vga’s were cool

  15. CrunchbiteNuva says:

I don’t know, I keep anticpating that a couple of dinosaurs or King Kong is gonna pop up out of nowhere.

  16. Glasses Guy says:

Wow. I never knew the EVA style helmet could look so cool. I, myself, wish we could get a more detailed view of the new cast, and who they are. Anyone agree?

    • Wortwort says:

  17. Jordoser says:

Hey just a quick note to everyone who thinks that the skull faced “Hell Spartan” is a rip off from modern warfare 2 it physically can’t be seeing as this game was under production far before the release of MW2 and I’d seriously doubt once it did come out the folks at bungie were like “wait that skull looks tight quick back up production back to character modeling and give him a skull” skulls are a common military motif.

    • randomguy says:

agreed, halo 3 came out even before MW1 and in the coming months after halo 3’s release they started working on reach, so to say they stole it is stupid, it was definitely in production yearsss before MW2

  18. Tentimook says:

I think that without and back-story type information the trailer seemed pointless. I think this is the type of trailer that comes out later in the year not first. I mean I expected to see like wide shots of reach with spartans in battle. This did have any excitement except for the music.

Marty has out done himself… Again.

  19. HellCat says:

Personally i just didnt get much out of this cimematic. MORE spartans were added (they are popping up everywhere now) but i didnt get the feeling i get when i see spartans. There wasnt the familiar green either which was disapointing. I just think the customization was too much. I found the announcement of arkham asylum2 and TFU2 to be better

    • Wortwort says:

I think more customize-ation would be cool, but when i was watching the vid for the first time I was like “WTF? Whats an ODST doing in reach????” I was wrong but the namless faceless guy we see first looked like an odst. Just saying.

      • Marksman says:

I thought so too. But not the ODST ODST helmet, but more like the Halo 3 Multiplayer ODST helmet.

  20. shadowsquid86 says:

    Spartans down die, Jorge.

    They just respawn.

    • shadowsquid86 says:

  21. StephaBon says:

    *jizz* o.O

  22. Mizzy says:

Hooray for a female Spartan that’s not in a jiggle-physics game!

    • Monkey_lord says:

And her right arm is robo arm! It took me a second look to see it.

      • randomguy says:

doesnt really make sense tho… why wouldnt they just flash clone her an arm…
anyone whos read the books would know it is a very available and easy process

        • IcyTreats says:

Maybe it happened while they were still on Reach, and couldnt get to a medlab.

  23. While I would like to see some familiar faces, I am totally ok with this. I have a wonderfully stupid grin plastered on my face right now. And Elites are back!

Also, I’m a little confused as to where people are getting “late 2010” from. It said falls 2010, not Fall 2010, right? I thought I heard something about early 2010 beta, if anything. Unless I’m mixing up the dates with ME2.

    • SonofMacPhisto says:

Its release will be late in the year, though I don’t think ‘Falls’ really has anything to do with that. More like a happy pun accident on top of the original pun… thing… something… if such a thing exists? I dun kno!!1!

      Also, WORT WORT WORT!

      • Well, I guess the “Fall of Reach” will happen in 2010? I don’t know why I only just got that. Man, I’m slow lately.

Wort wort wort indeed. I have the sudden urge to go play the original Halo. >.<

        • SonofMacPhisto says:

Don’t worry about being slow. You found out you get to fight Elites again, and that they are scary and mean again. It’s a lot to take in. ^_^

    • Indeed Not says:

When has a Halo game been released any time other than Fall? NEVAR.

      • I was talking about the Beta, not the actual game. It didn’t dawn on me that people were talking about the actual game.

        • Indeed Not says:

          Ah, that would explain it.

  24. HellCat says:

Is it me or did that trailer not feel like it was halo universal?

    • Wortwort says:

      What do you mean?

  25. DethPwn says:

    Or more appropriately:

    • Wortwort says:

  26. Marksman says:

I have a stain in my pants now.
Lucky, 2010 doesn’t take long to arrive.

    *Mum Joke*

    • Marksman says:

The snow effects are cool, but they lag the video for me. I took a trip to YouTube for it.

  27. Jamasia says:

Does anyone know if these are the original SPARTANS incl. John and Kelly and the others

    • ElusiveEagle says:

The characters in the reveal above are NOT John or Kelly or any member of Blue or Red teams. This is a new team of characters called ‘Noble Team’. That doesn’t mean we won’t see or play as members of Red or Blue teams though. Nothing is certain until release.

      Noble Team:

      Lt. (You)
      Carter-259 (Noble Leader)
      Kat-320 (Blue chick)
      Jorge-052 (Huge mother&%$ker)
‘Ghost’ (Guy with the skull face, we don’t know his name or number yet)
Sniper guy (We don’t know his name or number yet)

      And that’s Noble Team!
